Here's what Russia wants from Ukraine to end its war:

Russia is under pressure from the Trump administration to agree to peace talks and a ceasefire in Ukraine. Here is what Moscow has said it wants.

After Russia's invasion of Ukraine lasted for more than three years, Russian President Vladimir Putin has maintained rigid, maximalist conditions for any potential peace agreement.

The United States' proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, which Ukraine has agreed to, has Putin's support in principle, but he noted that its implementation raises many questions, particularly regarding verification across a long front line. Russia may be able to engage in prolonged negotiations without rejecting an offer immediately using this strategy.

In addition, Putin suggested that he would seek to impose his own conditions on the framework of the pause, such as a halt to Western weapons supplies or a prohibition on mobilization, implying that Ukraine could use the 30-day reprieve to regroup and rearm.
